One year ago, you tossed me in the mud but I got back on and I brought you home anyway. 😆 That was our whole relationship for the first few months. She was a 3yo with very little confidence under saddle but a whole lot of potential, and I'm still convinced my Papa picked her out special for me. We went to our first shows, won some ribbons, and even managed a top 5 in our age division over the season. We have done miles of trails, a little jumping, and even some mounted shooting! Just yesterday she had her first foray into being a lesson horse and did beautifully! She listened so well and took care of one rider who is a little more timid, but still gave some giddy-up for a young rider with a lot of confidence. Finishing off the show season this weekend with an Finishing off the show season this weekend with another double header! I'm doing photos and riding so if you don't see me on Monday I'm recovering. 🤣 I started this year with a very green 3yo, but the level of confidence and improvement that has come this year has been amazing! I never would've imagined I'd be sitting 5th in our division for BOTH series that we run in, let alone that I'd be running consistently just a second or two off my friends with more seasoned horses (and who, without their encouragement and advice I wouldn't even be here!). No matter what happens this weekend I'm proud of how far we've come and I'm excited for the next season and many more in the future! Keep an eye out for photos from the Madison OHC finale coming next week!
